Cease, Samantha and Rob introduce us to the collective garden project, located along Keefer Street at the top of China Townâ€¦people can see how it happens from the drawing board to the finished plants, and maybe even become interested enough to get involved. ...and the next meeting is a clean-up session at the site on tuesday, august 21 from 9:30 a.m. DEYAS (Downtown Eastside Youth Activities Society) is going to be there as well to help out.

Nathan, Gary and Jules speak out at the Insite for Community Safety's, Portland Hotel Society's, Lifeskills Centre's and Downtown Eastside residents and community members' very cool, very fun, BBQ last Sunday, on the dire importance of keeping Insite open! DOA was there to show their support and rock the hood.

Rusty Campbell will be buried this morning on the Musqueam Reserve. His friends and Family have been holding a memorial in Pigeon Park. Many people contributed flowers, messages of love and mourning, and food that will be buried also at his funeral today. Thank you Verna for standing up for your rights and for sharing this important tradition.
May you rest in peace Rusty.

â€œShame!â€ and â€œBOOH!â€ from the crowd drowned out Premier Campbellâ€™s speech last Monday during the unveiling of Vancouverâ€™s 2010 Olympic Countdown Clock. Concerned citizens were there to address the real issuesâ€¦homelessness, poverty and cutbacks to social funding, all of which will increase as money gets poured into more government game playing.
