I'm Not Sure About This, But...

I'm not positive 'bout this but I just received a letter form the government telling me I owe them money. The money is suspiciously in the amount of the special 'Homeless and Eviction (Prevention) Fund' that I received in the summer time so that I didn't end up homeless on the streets.

They are asking me now to pay it back?

Okay - so I face facts...it will be possible for me to let my apartment go, become homeless again and pay back this money.

*nods*

It is the right thing to do?

You can do a load per week, but you must phone the Calgary Drop In Centre and book a time to use the machines.

Macaroni and Blue Sharks Recipe

Here's the latest recipe I figured out from the items in my Food Bank hamper.

I call it: "Mac The Shark"

Directions:

* Bring 2L (2Quarts) of water to a full boil in medium saucepan/pot
* Add 5mL (1tsp) of salt
* Substitute 1 handful of BBQ Chips for the salt if necessary (don't worry, look in your food bank hamper - there are chips in there, right under the bucket of sour-soothers that were donated) Crunch the chips up, they'll help the water boil faster

* Once the water is boiling, pour the macaroni from the box into the pot.

Calgary Food Banks and Donations

There has been a great decline over the past 3 years in the quality of food that the Calgary Food Banks (and the Shelters) have been providing to those in need of food.

I think this is happening because people aren't aware how much nutrients people need (a fair bit) or about how much macaroni it takes for a low-income person to actually get sick with malnutrition (not that much).

Perhaps people believe that so long as there is food on a plate, people will be okay, but this just isn't so.
