What God Wants...

Gentrification - n. the restoration of run-down urban areas by the upper and middle class (resulting in the displacement of low-income residents.)

It reminds me of a very angry lyric that Roger Waters from Pink Floyd fame wrote on his solo album "Amused To Death"
Please feel free to replace God with "corporations", "big business" etc... at will. It doesn't have the same ring, but is closer to the truth.
I am also aware that the Euro has replaced a lot of the currency mentioned, but you get the point...

God... (Big Business)wants new convention centres at 1.5 billion dollars when we have the old one, half empty.
God... (Big Business) wants the Downtown Eastside to look like a Burnaby shopping strip. (*See London Drugs)
