Homelessness March in April Pt. 1
On Saturday, April 4 2009, thousands of people from communities across BC came together to demand immediate government action to end homelessness, build social housing, protect rental housing and raise welfare and minimum wage rates.
In the Metro Vancouver area there were 3 marches that eventually converged on the Art Gallery, downtown.
This video was shot starting at the Peace Flame Park (South End of Burrard Street Bridge). Eventually meeting up with the other 2 groups in what can only be described as an awe inspiring show of solidarity.
If you look closely enough you might even see the Mayor of Vancouver, Gregor Robertson, showing his support.
Thanks to everyone that came out and to the Citywide Housing Coalition for organizing this event.
Colin

Wow... it looks like such a peaceful march... and such good numbers - 5000 people! It shows that there's support out there, that people realize something has to be done, and that it's not just a small portion, but rather a major chunk of the community that feels this way... looking forward to part 2.
