Attend a funeral over the internet?!
Imagine where technology has taken us today, you don't even need to leave your own home to attend a funeral anymore?!
What do you think about this new trend?!
There are 2 very different perspectives, those who believe it is an invasion of privacy and those who cannot afford to attend a funeral of a loved one who lives in another country....
Where do you fit in to this debat?!

I don't know if I'm on one side of the debate or not... I just think it's weird.
Hmmmm... I agree that being able to "virtually" attend a funeral is a relief for those who otherwise can't attend, but is it also an easy way out? Do people have to watch the ceremony live? Or can they put it off until it's more convenient? (Yeah, yeah, I'll watch the funeral after the hockey game).
As for the invasion of privacy issue - I guess as long as the deceased and his family sign up for the service, then it's a non-issue. Unless, of course, the funeral footage is stored and re-used without permission.
I kinda think this is way to weird. I never even dreamt of the day that we would no longer attend a funeral for anyone. Especially if it was our own parents' funeral. I personal would say what an insulted we have demonstrated to any individual who has passed on. I think that would be the last thing I would want to do. Especially if they have done some for us.
womyn united will never be defeated when acting in solidarity
having not checked out the links you provided i will say this. it is weird, but i also think it is also think that it can be a way for those who can not attend (especially for financial reasons) to be involved in a process that we as a society have deemed important for closure. which is another debate all together. have attended, organized and also missed several memorials over the years i personally dont find the process of memorials especially healing for me personally, that being said, i attend when i can and have felt guilty and upset when i could not attend. being able to attend a via technology should not in my opinion be a replacement for a busy schedule but i can see the benefits if travel is not an option but participation is important. my fear is that we are leaning on technology as a way to avoid the personal.
