It's good see that you took it upon yourself to learn more about homelessness. One of the most important things anyone can do is to broaden their horizons.

People who are homeless are people. Homelessness has no boundaries - no skin colour, no religion, no class. Anyone can become homeless at any time... it's a scary and depressing thought, but we'd be more able to deal with it if people took the time to learn about the issues - just like you're doing.

It's nice to have you online.

The most important thing to do right now is to take care of yourself - so make sure that you get those good grades! Some people try and do too much to help and end up not taking care of themselves... so start slow. I think the most important thing is to learn about the issues. So keep doing research, read the papers, and try and develop your own ideas and opinions about homelessness. From your first blog, it looks like you're off to a good start :)

You can try volunteering somewhere and get to know some of the people who are homeless in your community. Talk to them - find out about them... sometimes being able to speak to someone is better than a few bucks in a pocket...

Welcome to the site too, young sister. Hope you'll find the answers you are looking for in this website. One tip for you, if you truly want to help, never do more than you can handle, because you'll put YOURSELF in the depression too. Always respect your limits.

hope that can help a little. it means take care of yourself honey... and good luck.

Sometimes when your sorting things out it can be really hard. take it. it's part of the process.

you have to strip down to bare bones and then reconstruct your ego, being aware of your frailties and your faults.

it pays off in the end, and at some point you might come accross a situation which will bring out the warning signs: ''wait a minute, i've dealt with this before, BADLY' and then maybe you'll sit back, and think about how you can do things differently, and that's a wonderful thing...
