I think that it is very realistic to want better things in life. We all have struggles and we should never let bullies rule us. I see the corporate elites as a faceless bully that is dominating our country at all levels. Why should they have the power? There are more of us than there are of them! Yesterday, I tried to go to the Renter's At Risk announcement at the "new" Residential Tenancy Office on Richards Street, which is the same as the BC Housing office. I came a bit late and nobody was there from the event, but I met a man who told me that he was waiting for BC Housing to get him a place. They kept telling him a date when his apartment would be ready, then changing the date to make him wait longer. He said that he knows lots of people waiting and very few have actually been able to get off the street. I am running for the Green Party to become an MLA because this is unacceptable. The government is supposed to be helping people who need it, not lining their own pockets. I'm a renter in the West End and everyone I know is scared that the rents will go so high that we will be on the streets, too. I know a lot of people are disillusioned with the political process, but in reality to the only way to get a change for the better is to vote in a new government. The same-old, same-old is not working. They have completely lost touch with people.
