I am a grade 10 student trying to raise awareness about Canadas homeless. I have started a charity called "docters on wheels" (providing protable flu shot clinics and other medical services) ANY feed back would be great...I am on my way to being homeless, I get high every day on E, weed and anything I can get. Right now im sleeping in a home shelter on my parents property because they no longer want me because of my drug use. I would like to make a difference, how can I?

Hi - and welcome to Homeless Nation! I think it's great that you're trying to make a difference.

The project that you started, Doctors on Wheels, sounds like you know what you're doing - you are making a difference!

At the same time you must think about how's the best way for you to help others. Is it by being on the streets yourself? Or would you be able to do more if your situation was stable?

Sometimes before helping others, we have to help ourtselves.

One of the most important things in our lives are our relationships. If your drug use is affecting the relationship that you have with your parents, then you need to examine why you're continuing to get high everyday.

Drugs can be appealing, especially to a teenager because it's an easy way to feel different, quickly.

Drugs can relieve boredom, anxiousness or help you forget about something bad.

But that high doesn't last. And habitual drug use creates a ton of other problems. Most people on the street don't end up there because of drugs, but it's an easy way to get stuck there.

You seem like you really want to make a difference in the world and that's amazing. Before you do, however, try to figure out whjy you're doing drugs so much and understand that there can be a lot of negative consequences - especially if it creates more problems between you and your family.

Send me a private message if you ever want to talk more.

Take care.
