Thank you for sharing your first hand experiences. I hope that one day there will be more people saying things the way you three have. This is our onlt chance of getting this epidemic under any kind of control. So keep the info coming now that you have open the dam's gate.

Great job gang. It's so sad. What I hear is a group of confirmed users who live lives filled with danger and risk, hardcore streeters who can dish you the straight goods. You've endured a lot of pain in your lives. My sense is you aren't doing this for yourselves, because you've lived a thousand hells, acquired the viruses, survived as best you can. You're doing it for the kids who are growing up poor and who are at risk for falling into the seemingly hopeless conditions you live in.

You are children who were failed by the foster care system, kids who were raised in residential schools, kids who grew up with family violence, parental alcoholism and addiction, poverty. Some of you work, but rents are too high to afford for those who make the training or minimum wage. Choices are made between rent and food.

Government is obliged to ensure that your basic human right to housing is fulfilled. But instead the Government of BC is spending close to a billion dollars on the new convention centre, and its ministry responsible for child welfare keeps the kids it is supposed to help on waiting lists for treatment while it renovates its own offices to the tune of a half-million dollars. It's criminal.
