Insite Saves Lives! Save Insite!

2007.08.08 - 7:30 AM

Nathan, Gary and Jules speak out at the Insite for Community Safety's, Portland Hotel Society's, Lifeskills Centre's and Downtown Eastside residents and community members' very cool, very fun, BBQ last Sunday, on the dire importance of keeping Insite open! DOA was there to show their support and rock the hood.

Downtown Eastside residents kept Insite open last fall by collecting more than 4000 letters to Prime Minister Stephen Harper. For Insite to keep saving lives this year thousands of letters need to be sent again. The sad truth is that 100 of people will die if the safe injection site closes.

Tell Prime Minister Stephen Harper to keep supervised injection site open!

that they would consider closing that place down. I was in there once, and I shot heroin. It was good, becasue it was clean, and it was supervised. They made some good points on that video about "howmany people would just die out on the streets becasue no one was there to help them with an overdose", which IS true. I agree that it is NOT enabling. And this is something that is now apart of our culture. If I had a kid and I was walking down the street with them, would I rather have to exaplin that "Oh look honey, theres a dead junkie on the street, or look honey, theres somoene doing the funky chicken coz they overdosed".
