Social Discrimination

We all know that it's nothing new. Tickets for "having emmitted an audible sound outside by yelling" (this law by the way was declared inconstitutional by the court of appeals in quebec), "having occupied the public domain without proper authorization", "having disposed of ashes in a public place".... we could go on forever.

Finally something is being done. La coalition Droits Devants have been collecting and making a data base of these frivolous tickets for the last few years. At the begginning of the summer they approached the comission of human rights and liberties on the subject and the comission is taking the matter seriously.

There are currently ongoing tri-party negociations between the commission of human rights, la coalition droits devant (who are representing us), and the city of Montreal. It's going to be a long process but at least something is finally being done. Concrete action.

However the coalition could use some more weight so if any of you out there (living in Montreal of course) has any info, complaints to make about the Montreal police etc... etc.. Make yourselves heard on a new blog that I'm going to start caled f***ing cops
