Homeless musician ready for prime time

After years of busking for change on the streets of downtown Victoria, Black Velvet is ready for the spotlight.
The homeless blues singer -- real name Michael Thompson -- has become a local celebrity thanks to a Victoria musician who couldn't let his talent go ignored.
Kevan Carlsen recorded a CD of Thompson's soulful sound, which has become so popular it's landed him a live show tomorrow night [Feb. 25]at Hermann's Jazz Club on View Street.
