Une jeune femme de 21 ans a été heurtée à mort par un camion poids lourd, hier soir, à Montréal.
Elle faisait du «squeegee» sur la rue Notre-Dame, à l'intersection du boulevard Pie IX lorsque, vers 21h35, elle aurait tenté de traverser la rue entre deux véhicules et le poids lourd, qui circulait dans la voie de droite, l'a heurtée.
La petite voiture qui suivait le camion a ensuite traîné la victime sur quelques mètres avant que le conducteur réussisse à s'arrêter. Le décès de la jeune femme a été constaté quelques heures plus tard à l'hôpital.

The 21-year old was washing windshields Tuesday night at the corner Notre Dame Street E. near Pie IX Boulevard when a heavy truck knocked her down.
She was then dragged by another vehicle for about 20 metres, said police Const. Olivier Lapointe. The woman was taken to hospital where she was declared dead.
The drivers are not expected to face any charges, Lapointe said.
Washing car windows in traffic is not illegal in Montreal, but standing in the middle of traffic can result in a $37 dollar fine. »

thats crazy it was a hit and run they should be charged with vehicular homicide or at least vehicular neglegence. I mean hell here in the states the men would be thrown in jail. That pisses me off.

Reneé was a part of our little possé here in her home province of Ontario last summer before her and my long time friend Frank and her made the trip out to Montreal as Fall set in. She was always bright and cheerful and although I only met her a handful of times I just can't swallow the injustice of her entire 21 years being written off as vehicular mishap with NOT EVEN A FINE BEING ISSUED!!! IF A LOVELY YOUNG GIRL CAN BE KILLED BY A TRUCK AND ALL THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR JUSTICE AND ORDER IN OUR SOCIETY TURN A BLIND EYE WHAT HOPE IS THERE FOR ANY OF US!!!
This deeply saddens me and I wish I would have had the opportunity to get to know Reneé better. I guess all we can do is try and live our lives to the fullest each day in honour of those who never got the chance.

Renee was from Guelph Ontario. She had the most amazing family ever, and will be missed so much.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. I am so sorry for your loss.
