Renovated bachelor, utilities extra
I've been photographing the homeless around Toronto lately. At first I was thinking of perhaps writing an article with supporting photos but I wouldn't feel comfortable using the pics of real people without their permission. They aren't objects; they're humans. I felt bad enough photographing them without their knowing.
Lately I have been hanging around some fellow artists. They've told me to start painting again. Then tonight I read Kathryn's story about doing portraits of first nations people. It inspired me to share one of my sketches from my photos. It's called "Renovated bachelor, utilities extra." It's supposed to represent a man sleeping on the sidewalk in the hot sun; HIS version of a renovated bachelor apartment but the utilities are not included. For some ... that's just too damned expensive.
