A New Direction in Life!
My life has been with the streets. I've been homeless for some summers, when I have a place I don't seem to treat myself the way that I think that I should and that bothers me.
I chose a new direction and this direction is going to help my life to begin.
Last week I was told by two people that I respect that I'm wasting my talents by not doing anything for myself in any way.
That put my ambition in action.
There's this Capoiera studio on Broadway that I've been wanting to go to for a number of years, but I may have been afraid to go in. Last week, after the two talks, I decided to go into the Capoiera studio. I looked at the price list and it was reasonable.
Someone told me to come over at this time tomorrow.
I show up at that time and saw what the advanced students were doing and that made me think that this is the place to train.
I went downstairs and accomplished the first free lesson. I felt great about myself that I did it.
After the lesson was over I paid for a few months, two times a week to get me started.
As I was walking home I had this feeling that I'm not too familiar with, true pride coming from a success in learning something new.
I go back tomorrow.
This is the beginning of a new Capoi(era) in the life of BEN.

so amazing ben. you always surprise and impress me. who would have thought you would be taking capoiera? i know that fear you talk about, it can keep you back from your dreams and from success. you set an a great example to others, including myself to shed the fear and step out and get what you want. keep it up. hey when you going to school? just a reminder :)
That's awesome, congrats! Taking the first step towards something new can always be hard... way to take the initiative. I agree with jhock - doing Capoiera or anything similar (martial arts, dancing, even sports) can do wonders for a person both physically and mentally. I know I'd go crazy if I couldn't run around and kick a ball for a couple hours a week.
You should do a little video blog about this, if you can. Let us follow your progress during the training...
