Homeless count

I have my own opinion about homeless count.

Homeless people are not in the system, and I think that it is impossible to count homeless people.

You see Homeless people don’t have any papers, Most of them don’t have any ID’s.

And, homeless people, a lot of them, and most of them don’t even use there real names.

What I count when counting the homeless, is the casualties, like in the army.

Such as; accidents when heavily intoxicated.

And death due to neglected personal hygiene, and abuse of toxics.

I count that stuff, that what homelessness is!

I agree with you... I think that it's impossible to perform an accurate count. In many ways I think it is more important to define what homelessness is, and to also share the reality and the stories of the street. That's one of the reasons why a website like this is so important. I think that's what you're talking about.

On the flip side, however, even trying to do a count and getting some rough numbers can be a great benefit. Information is a powerful tool - especially in the fight to get resources - and showing people hard numbers can sometimes shock them into action.
